The ninth seed USA-India pair lost to sixth seed Cara Black and Wayne Black of Zimbabwe in a marathon match 6-7 (7/9), 7-6 (7/5), 11-13 that finally finished yesterday after spanning three days because of rain.

The match was first postponed on Wednesday and again on Thursday with the final four games played on Friday.

Last year, the 47-year-old Navratilova equalled Billie Jean King's record of 20 Wimbledon titles when she and Paes won the title.

But despite going out of the singles and mixed doubles she still has a chance to break the record as she and Lisa Raymond are to play in the women's doubles semi-final on Saturday.

Navratilova has won nine Wimbledon singles, seven doubles and four mixed doubles title. Overall, she has 58 Grand Slam titles.

On Wednesday, the top-seed pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Elena Likhovtseva of Russia lost to unseeded American opponents Bob Bryan and Lindsay Davenport lost 2-6 4-6 in the quarterfinals.
