Pak soldier killed after crossing LoC

A Pakistan soldier was shot dead in Lam sector of Rajouri district on Thursday evening. Hours later, Pakistan resorted to heavy firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch. The body of Pakistani jawan Mohammad Ikhlaqm was returned to Pakistan army on Friday evening at 6pm in Lam sector, 135 km from here.

Pakistan army had on Thursday said that one of its soldiers had inadvertently crossed the LoC and contact was being established with the Indian authorities for his return.

The army had on Thursday said one infiltrator and another were injured when their suspicious movement was noticed along the LoC in the evening. The troops deployed there tracked the movement and were cordoned off. The infiltrators fired at the troops and in return fire one of them was shot dead. An AK-47 was also recovered.

An Indian soldier was critically injured and was shifted to Command Hospital, Udhampur.

After receiving communication from the army command about request of Pakistan to hand over the soldier, who might have inadvertently crossed the LoC, the army had great difficulty in retrieving the body, as Pakistan fired heavily on the Indian posts.

The body was first brought to the brigade headquarters, Rajouri, and then handed over to the police.

Hours later, Pakistan once again violated the ceasefire agreement by firing heavily along the LoC in the Balnoi area of the Krishna Ghati sector at 10pm on Thursday. The firing laster over an hour. No casualty was reported.
