"Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing using light weapons and automatics at our positions in Akhnoor sector of the LoC yesterday evening (Monday)," Captain SN Acharya told IANS.

"Our troops retaliated with calibrated response. Till last reports came in, intermittent exchange of fire was going on in the sector," he said.

Since the beginning of this year, Pakistan has violated many times the bilateral ceasefire agreement signed between the two neighbours in November 2003.
