While occupants cry foul over an alleged pick-and-choose policy, according to the administration, hundreds of buildings in the area don't have an approved layout plan. "I have given instructions to the DTP enforcement wing to identify illegal constructions and serve them notices," said PC Meena, Gurgaon deputy commissioner.

More are likely to lose their homes here, which is largely unauthorised, as many roads in the latest master plan are likely to pass through the area.

"The administration should have stopped these constructions at an early stage,” said Azad Kataria, a resident.

When asked whether officials who have allowed these constructions will be punished, Meena said, "I admit the fault and connivance of officials and police. I will take strict action against them as well."
