With the nomination filing process finally over, political parties in the Capital are giving final touches to their campaign strategy to woo voters.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), for instance, has made detailed plan to get all their top national leaders to hit the campaign trail in the city.
Senior leaders said that plans are afoot to bring in BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate LK Advani, Gujarat chief minister Narender Modi, party’s national president Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Jaswant Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi,Vinay Katiyar, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Gopinath Munde and Anant Kumar to campaign for party candidates in the Capital. “The best thing is that election in Delhi is in the last phase by which time a majority of the senior leaders would be free to campaign in the Capital,” said O.P. Kohli, president of Delhi’s BJP unit.
BJP’s campaign strategists are already preparing the schedule of senior leaders. “All leaders have been advised to make available some days for campaigning in Delhi. They will be addressing public meetings, attend road shows and rallies along with the contesting candidates,” said a senior party leader.
Apart from political stalwarts, the party has already decided to rope in some Bollywood stars who also happen to be BJP MPs.
These include Hema Malini, Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha and Vinod Khanna.
Sinha would be made to campaign in some of the Poorvanchali dominated areas of the city.
Popular television actress Smriti Irani and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu have already hit the campaign trail.
