The men, who looked like students and were carrying books in their hands, had boarded the train at Moradabad, and soon after the train started, threatened the passengers with pistols and knives and looted them at around 4.50 pm last evening.

When the train reached the Nagina-Nehtaur railway crossing, they pulled the chain and fled into the fields.

A few passengers and policemen present in the train, gave them a chase, but they managed to give them the slip.

The passengers were mostly Bihari labourers who were on their way to Punjab.

A report of the incident was filed after the train arrived at Najibabad.
