THE UTTAR Pradesh IAS Association appears to be in no mood to relent over the issue of posting Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officers as district magistrates.
The association is awaiting the State government’s response to the representation against the move and is holding consultations with legal luminaries to make a final move to challenge the order in a court of law.
The association discussed the issue at its executive committee meeting held at the Civil Service Institute Raj Bhawan here today.
Association secretary Sanjay Bhus Reddy said only routine matters came up for discussion at the executive committee meeting. The association would wait for the State government’s response before taking any decision, he said.
Significantly, most association office bearers remained tight-lipped. A senior officer, however, said the association was in final stages of holding discussions with legal luminaries.
It felt that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had not been given proper legal advice before he made the announcement. Hence, the association had a strong case.
The association would move the court of law if the State government failed to respond to its representation, he said.
According to sources, the executive committee also discussed the issue of convening an extra ordinary general body meeting to discuss the issue.
As many of executive committee members were out of station, the association deferred a decision on the issue, said another officer.
He,however, added that the executive committee would meet again in the first week of July now.
