According to reports, the activists of PDP led by party leader Ejaz Subria assembled outside the office of the chief medical officer of Udhampur and raised slogans against the shortage of staff in the hospital and provision of better medical facilities in rural areas of the district.

Subria said more than 800 patients visit the district hospital everyday for treatment. "A doctor examines patient in the OPD for more than six hours, so he cannot attend to the other patients. Due to this, the patients have to go back home without check-up", he said.

He alleged that patients were facing numerous problems in the hospital owing to shortage of doctors and medicines, adding that patients coming from far-flung areas were worst affected due to apathy.

Subria demanded immediate appointment of adequate staff for the convenience of patients.
