People advised to stay away from Chenab on July 5, 6

The management of the Dulhasti power project , NHPC Limited, cautioned the public of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts in Jammu region on Thursday not to move near the Chenab river on July 5 and 6.

The management of the Dulhasti power project , NHPC Limited, cautioned the public of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts in Jammu region on Thursday not to move near the Chenab river on July 5 and 6.

"People residing in Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts should not move near the river on July 5 and 6 as the gates of the Dulhasti Power Station Dam will be opened for periodical reservoir flushing," a statement said.

"During this period, the water level may rise temporarily. People residing near the river are being warned to refrain from moving near the river bank to avoid any mishap,". The statement added anybody violating the request would be doing so at his own risk and responsibility and the management would not be responsible for consequences thereof.

The 390 MW Dulhasti hydro-electric power project was built on the Chenab River in Kishtwar district of Jammu region by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation and the project became operational in 2007.
