Performance of committees constituted for mid-day meal inspection reviewed

District development commissioner, Reasi, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, reviewed the performance of committees constituted for inspection of quality of food served under the mid-day meal scheme.

Schools in the district have been demarcated in different zones and tehsildars, naib tehsildars and zonal education officers have been assigned schools in specific areas to personally monitor the quality of food grains as well as standard of cooking in schools.

Assistant controller food safety has been directed to visit schools and inspect its quality. Assistant director consumer affairs and public distribution has been assigned the duty of inspecting food godowns through tehsil supply officers across the district and submit fortnightly report.

SDM, Mahore, has also constituted teams for inspection of schools for checking quality of mid-day meal scheme implementation.

DDC has also roped in two NGOs for monitoring purpose in the district. Panchayats have been asked to associate with quality monitoring process in schools.

Chief education officer informed that 33,938 students of primary classes and 16,570 students of upper primary classes are being covered under the MDM scheme in the district. Accordingly 85 quintals of food grains are being provided every month.
