Plea to extend service period of teachers

SENIOR READER (Sanskrit) Allahabad Degree College (ADC) and president of Allahabad University Constituent Colleges Teachers? Association, Dr Rammuni Pandey today urged the Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh to extend service period of teachers of the central university.

SENIOR READER (Sanskrit) Allahabad Degree College (ADC) and president of Allahabad University Constituent Colleges Teachers’ Association, Dr Rammuni Pandey today urged the Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh to extend service period of teachers of the central university.

In a press release, Dr Pandey said that in view of the shortage of teachers in university and affiliated colleges, the services of the teachers should be extended from 62 years to 65 years. He said that many teachers in university and affiliated colleges were getting retirement on June 30, 2006 and there was already shortage of teachers in AU and its 11 affiliated colleges.

Dr Pandey also hailed Union education secretary Sudip Banerjee for issuing a letter to UP government regarding extension of the services of teachers and demanded the Union HRD Minister to accept the pending demand of All-India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations for extension of services from 62 to 65 years.
