Police gears up to maintain peace on Telangana bandh day

In view of "Telangana bandh call" given by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of various political parties on December 30, an action plan has been drawn up to maintain peace, law and order and tranquility, the DGP Girish Kumar told reporters in Hyderabad this evening.
After careful assessment of law and order complications, the city police have decided not to allow 'Vidyarthi Garjana' (students mass rally) to be organised by student's JAC on January 3, he said and expressed apprehension that anti-social elements would mingled with the students and they may indulge in violence creation during the rally.
A total worth of property damaged during last month after beginning of agitation was about Rs 15-crore, Kumar said.
Detailing attacks on public and private properties, the DGP said so far a total of 1,087 cases were registered including 107 cases involving damage to public properties like RTC buses and government offices.
The agitators damaged over 458 government and private vehicles in the last one-month in all the three regions of Telangana, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema in the state.
