After a Dalit youth from Ramgarh Colony, who was injured in an attack by a dozen miscreants on October 15, the day polling for the Haryana assembly elections took place, succumbed to his injuries in a local civil hospital on Tuesday evening, relatives and area residents held a protest on Wednesday and demanded immediate arrest of the suspects.
The protesters refused to take the body of Vinod Kumar (27) after the post mortem was conducted and blocked the national highway near the civil hospital to express resentment over the delay in arrest.
SDM Ashok Bansal reached the spot with police force and informed the crowd that the police were looking for the assailants and will nab them soon. He said the request of the victim’s relatives for providing a job to his wife would be sent to the government for a favourable consideration.
A large number of vehicles remained stuck due the blockade for one hour. The protesters relented after the SDM’s assurance.
