Polling suspended in three booths in Badnawar

Polling was suspended in 3 booths in Badnawar of Dhar district following reports of booth capturing and arrest of as many as 11 people. Repoll has been ordered.

Polling was on Monday suspended in three booths in Badnawar constituency of Dhar district following reports of booth capturing and arrest of as many as 11 persons and repoll was ordered.

According to Dhar collector and District Election Officer Sanjay Dube polling was suspended in polling booth number 147, 139 and 135.

Police is probing the incident and has rounded up a few persons in this regard, he said.

The Election Commission has ordered for the repolling, the date for which has not been decided yet, he said.

Badnawar, from where Congress has fielded Rajyawardhan Singh Dattigaon and BJP, sitting MLA Khemraj Patidar, three persons indulged in both capturing and destroyed two EVMs before police intervened.

Police has arrested 11 persons in this regard and seized four vehicles from them.

The case has been registered against 25 persons in the booth capturing incident and police has launched a manhunt to arrest the remaining persons, the official sources said.
