Polls to 13 Legislative Council seats on June 10

The Election Commission has announced schedule of biennial election for 13 seats of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, which will fall vacant in July, a senior officer said in Lucknow.

The Election Commission has announced schedule of biennial election for 13 seats of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, which will fall vacant in July, a senior officer said in Lucknow on Saturday.

"Election for the 13 seats of the Legislative Council will be held on June 10 for which the process will start from May 24," Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha said.

The counting for the seat will be held the same day and the election process would be completed by June 12.

Of the 13 seats, which will fall vacant on July 6, five are held by the SP, three by BJP, two each by BSP and RLD and one by Congress.

One of these seats is held by Chief Minister Mayawati.

Besides, the Council, by-election for Dumariyaganj assembly seat, which had fallen vacant following death of a BSP MLA, would also be held on June 3.
