AFTER A gap of more than 15 years, direct recruitments for the posts of Assistant Engineers (AEs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) in the power sector would be carried out soon in Madhya Pradesh.

The MP Central Region Power Distribution Company (MPCRPDC), Bhopal, will be the first among the three distribution companies (DISCOM) in the State to carry out such recruitments.

The company’s Board of Directors at its meeting held on March 25, has decided to recruit 25 AEs and an equal number of JEs on its payroll through direct recruitment process, well placed sources informed the Hindustan Times. The company had approached the MP State Electricity Board (MPSEB) some time back to apprise the latter of the shortage of engineers and had requested for initiating steps to recruit some engineers.

The MPSEB had approved the proposal and now, after being given the go-ahead by its board of directors, the MPCRPDC is soon going to publish advertisements for the posts, the sources added. The AEs and JEs recruited through the selection process would be employees of the MPCRPDC and their pays, perks and other service conditions would be governed by the company. The last time direct recruitments to these posts were held was way back in 1991, sources pointed out.

The company had, some time ago, also initiated the process of closed departmental recruitments to the posts of JEs to address shortage of engineers in rural areas. Applications have been invited from Class – III and Class – IV employees of the MPCRPDC for appointment as JEs.

The selected candidates would have to undergo training as ‘Diploma Trainees’ and would be primarily posted in rural areas as JEs after completion of training, sources said. The basic criterion for eligibility is the candidate should be a diploma holder in electrical engineering and the last date for applying is April 29.

Meanwhile, the MP Power Generation Company (MPGENCO) has already published advertisements for direct recruitments for almost 180 different posts. The appointments are to be made in various departments of the MPGENCO, including Human Resources and Information Technology, besides the posts of AEs.
