Power dept appeals for judicious power usage

The power department has appealed to the people here to make judicious use of power in summer. In a statement, superintending engineer said that using power through illegal means amounts to theft of electricity.

In a statement, superintending engineer said that using power through illegal means amounts to theft of electricity. He said anyone indulging in any illegal practice shall be booked and penalized as per the Jammu and Kashmir Electricity Act-2010.

The statement said judicious use of air conditioners and other power consuming gadgets shall reduce overloading of electrical infrastructure, which constrains the department to go in for distress power cuts.

It said cooperation of public in this regard shall go a long way in helping the department to deliver better services to consumers.
