Addressing the employees’ meeting on the occasion, general secretary Girish Kumar Srivastava flayed UPPCL officers for ignoring the demands of the employees. Resentment was brewing among the staff against not complying with the agreement signed by UPCCL officers and staff.

Joint secretary PN Mishra said the leaders were invited by officers on May 12 to hold a dialogue on the demands. However, if the demands were not conceded the employees would stage a dharna at the Shakti Bhawan in Lucknow on May 17.

The main demands included preventive steps on power theft, third time bound salary to employees, retirement age to 60 years, regularisation of ad hoc staff and others.

A memorandum was handed over to the general manager Transmission and GM Distribution. Prominent leaders who addressed the meeting included Arun Kumar
Tripathi, PC Tiwari , Vinay Kumar Ojha, Dhanraj Singh, RY Pandey and Uma Shankar Pandey.
