He was briefed by top officials of the Ministry, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Terrorists have struck big on Tuesday, setting off seven synchronised blasts in suburban trains in Mumbai that killed at least 190 people and injured 625 preceded by five grenade attacks in Srinagar in which eight people died.

Quick reaction teams of paramilitary forces have been deployed at major airports, especially in Mumbai, Delhi and other metros, soon after the blasts last night, officials said.

The number of CISF personnel on duty at major airports have also been increased, they said, adding the security personnel have been asked to take all precautions and conduct all necessary security checks at the airports.

However, they said flight operations would not be affected by the heightened security measures.
