Pranab reaches China on six-day tour

Defence Minister is in China for talks with senior Chinese leaders and military officials on Sino-India relations.

Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee arrived on Monday for talks with senior Chinese leaders and military officials on Sino-India relations, especially on how to enhance mutual trust between the two militaries.

This is Mukherjee's first trip to China since assuming the post of Defence Minister in 2004.

Mukherjee is visiting China on a six-day trip as a guest of his Chinese counterpart, General Cao Gangchuan. He will hold official talks with Cao on Monday, official sources said.

He will travel to northwestern China's Gansu Province and Shanghai municipality, the country's economic hub in east China.
