It was presided over by freedom fighter and member of Azad Hind Fauj Capt Laxmi Sehgal. Addressing the gathering, Sehgal said, ?Today women is conscious about her rights. Also, she is participating in movements related to untouchability, rape, dowry system and female foeticide.?

Sheghal further said, “Women must raise their voice against anti-women policies. And to identify those women organisation which is running on foreign money.”
Many prominent women of the city participated in the dharna. Yog Jyoti India Society also organised a rally to mark the Women’s Day.
The rally was presided over by Yogacharya Jyoti Baba, president of the society who also addressed the gathering.
Meanwhile, during the weeklong ‘legal awareness’ drive organised for women on the occasion of International Women’s Day by Vidhik Seva Pradhikaran, Kanpur Dehat ended here today.
Many activities were conducted in Kanpur Dehat area, including literacy camp for women organised at Bhoganipur Tehsil that was presided over by Additional District Judge OP Srivastva, along with other legal experts. Women who gathered on the occassion were apprised about their legal rights.
Judicial Magistrate Aradhana Rani Singhal visited the jail on March 8 and explained legal rights to women prisioners helping them settle their problems according to the law.
Meanwhile, a group of advocates held a meeting to mark ‘Women’s Day’, presided over by general secretary of Central Bar Association Praveen Fighter.
