Tension prevailed in Hapur city after a statue of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh was allegedly damaged by some unidentified persons, a senior police official said today.
Tension prevailed in Hapur city after a statue of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh was allegedly damaged by some unidentified persons, a senior police official said on Thursday.
The incident occurred last evening at Tehsil Chopla in the city, 50 kms from here, when the statue of the leader was damaged by some miscreants on the eve of his 109th birthday, said Superintendent of Police Rural M M Beg.

Condemning the incident, workers of Lok Dal demanded the arrest of those behind the incident, he said.
