The total arrival of wheat has touched the highest ever level of 106.07 lakh MT so far against 105.98 lakh MT achieved by the state in the year 2001-02.

“The daily arrival of wheat crop is still between 50,000 and 70,000 MT and with this kind of inflow of crop, the total arrival is expected to surpass 107 lakh MT during the end of current wheat lifting season,” FCI General Manager (Punjab) Dev Raj said on Wednesday.

During the last season, the total arrival stood at 105.83 lakh MT, which was also the second highest in the state’s history.

Couple of days back, Haryana also achieved the highest ever crop arrival in its history as the total wheat arrival touched 65 lakh MT during the current season compared with 64.61 lakh MT in 2001-02.
