This petition is related to admission/recounselling with regard to remaining seats in UP State Engineering Admission Test (UPSEAT) for 2006-2007. This order was passed by Justice SN Srivastava, when during the course of hearing, it was brought to the knowledge of the court that despite the court’s order, private engineering colleges had published advertisements inviting applications for admissions against vacant and dropout seats in which preference will be given to candidates who appeared in UPSEAT.

Earlier, the court had directed maintenance of status quo by the parties. The private engineering colleges have filed this petition alleging that the State was interfering with management quota in institutes.
