Police have not been able to identify the miscreants yet. A massive two-wheeler checking drive was launched throughout the city to nab the fleeing miscreants but none of them could be traced out.
According to information, 35-year-old Pratap Narian Mishra, an employee of an Airtel distributor shop, left from his owner Virendra Kapoor’s house from Sidhgiribagh area with Rs three lakh to deposit in a branch of OBC bank situated in Natraj theatre. The employee was driving the scooter while another person sitting on the pillion was holding the bag containing money.
As their scooter reached the busy Aurangabad-Sigra Road at around 1.45 pm, two youths riding on a motorcycle suddenly waylaid their scooter. Promptly, one of the youths tried to snatch the bag of money from the pillion rider when the employee, Pratap raised an alarm and challenged them. Seeing this the other miscreant whipped out a pistol and shot at him.
The employee received the bullet on his right hand and in the meantime, miscreant looted the money and fled the scene after harassing the locals.
Sensation gripped the area after the incident local shopkeepers closed their shops in panic. On getting information, cops reached the spot and hospital and investigated the case.
Meanwhile, cops of Sigra police station, during an encounter arrested two notorious criminals and recovered two countrymade pistols and a motorcycle from their possession in Jal Vihar area on Sunday night. The arrested miscreants have been identified as Abhishek alias Buntie and Lavkush Singh.
