R45 cr for leh telecom infra damage: Pilot

Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot today said the ministry is spending R45 crore for reconstruction and expansion of the telecom infrastructure damaged due to the cloudburst last month in Leh.

"We tried to restore communication facilities as soon as possible. Massive efforts are being undertaken to rebuild the infrastructure that was reduced to zero due to the cloudburst," said Pilot, at a small programme at the Monastery after a plantation drive for Green Commonwealth Games 2010. The headquarter building of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited was devastated during the floods that followed the cloudburst on August 6.
