The issues of price rise, taking measures in curbing corruption which includes reviewing the steps taken in setting up Lokayukta in the states, are among the issues to come up for discussions at the meeting — billed as a special conference of the chief ministers.

This is the first time that Gandhi will be calling the CMs for an exclusive strategy session. The party is concerned about the price-rise and the impact it has on the electoral fortunes of Congress, smarting under humiliating defeat in the recently held assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Chhattisgarh.

The meeting is also expected to urge the CMs for the effective implementation of the social sector schemes of the UPA government, like the food security scheme.
