Rahul Gandhi on Sunday took Jalalabad tehsil headquarters by storm, drawing huge crowds during his road show in various localities.

Travelling in an open jeep, the young Congress leader visited narrow lanes and by lanes, seeking votes for the party candidate Sharad Veer Singh who is pitted against ex-MP and MLA Ram Murti Singh.

People lined up on either sides of the road throughout the city to catch a glimpse of Rahul who waved at them and shaked hands.

Rahul reached at Kakori Shaheed Inter College ground at 12 noon. He visited Tehsil road, Bara Paththar Chauraha, Yaqoobpur Tiraha, Gunara etc. Sharad Veer Singh, Jitin Prasad and Satish Sharma accompanied him. were allowed to sit with Rahul on the top of the vehicle.

In Bara Patthar area residence showered flowers on the speeding fleet from their roof tops. However, Rahul could not address them due to time constraint.

Political observers were of the view that the political equation in Jalalabad had changed after Rahul’s visit. Muslims of the area joined the road show in huge numbers.
