Addressing a meeting of railway employees, the divisional president of men’s union, Pradip Sharma said that Ministry of Finance has recommended a bonus of 63 days to the railway employees on the basis of productivity for the year 2005-2006.
He said this bonus was a reward for the employees for increasing the productivity of Indian Railways. He warned that curtailment of four days bonus out of the total proposed 63 days would not be tolerated at all by the hardworking employees.
Highlighting the struggle of men’s union for the railway employees, he informed that the union, in association with the All-India Railway Men’s Federation, had gone on strike in 1960, 1968 and 1974 to benefit the employees with bonus. So, there is no question of accepting the curtailment of four days bonus.
As per their pre-scheduled programme, the railway employees assembled near the Loco lobby, near platform number five of the station, where apart from the divisional president, other leaders also addressed the meeting and took a pledge in a single voice to fight against injustice of four days curtailment in their bonus. The employees took out a procession and raising slogans in support of their demand traversed on the premises of the railway station.
Later, it culminated at the divisional office of Men’s Union near the station on the national highway.
