They demanded to ensure eight-hour duty for the signal engineers. Presiding over dharna, president of the association Ram Kailash Sharma and secretary Mathura Prasad Yadav said railway board had issued a letter to all the general managers of the railway on April 27 to take eight hours duty from the signal engineers and condemned the neglecting attitude of railway officials in implementing the directive.
They said from November 26, the signal employees have decided to work eight hours according to their duty roster and expressed apprehension that the work of timely running of the rails could be affected due to shortage of signal engineers.
Yadav said it was the duty of railway administration to manage the crises and to fulfill the vacant post and reiterated his demand to implement the directive of Railway Board before November 26.
He also indicated to intesify the stir to press for their demands.
