Rain brings mercury down in HP

Overnight rain cooled weather in Shimla and other parts of Himachal Pradesh with mercury plummeting by 5-6 degree Celsius today.

The capital city recorded 14.3 mm rain which brought down the minimum temperature from yesterday's 16.6 degrees Celsius to 10.5 degrees Celsius, Met officials said.

Among other places, Sundernagar registered 8.5 mm rain while it was 2.6 mm in Bhuntar. Kalpa received 3.8 mm rain.

Rain in Dharamsala and Madi was recored 8.8 mm and 8.3 mm respectively, thy said.

The minimum temperature in Sundernagar was registered at 17.2 degrees C, while it was 15 degrees C in Bhuntar, 16.4 degrees C in Dharamsala and 17 degrees C in Mandi, the weathermen added.

Among high reaches areas, Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded the lowest temperature of 5.5 degrees C while it was 9.3 degrees C in Keylong.

Shimla, also known as the 'Queen of Hills' witnessed intermittent rain throughout the day which turned the weather cold forcing people to look for the woollen cloths.

The Met office forecast rain/thundershower across the state tomorrow.
