Rajdhani train driver injured in stone-pelting

Police sources said the unidentified persons threw stones on the Dibrugarh-New Delhi bound down Rajdhani near Basugaon railway station around 8.30 AM. The injured driver, S N Chakravorty, has been admitted to a hospital.

The driver of the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express was seriously injured when unidentified persons pelted stones on the moving train in lower Assam's Chirang district this morning.

Police sources said the unidentified persons threw stones on the Dibrugarh-New Delhi bound down Rajdhani near Basugaon railway station around 8.30 AM. The injured driver, S N Chakravorty, has been admitted to a hospital.

The train was stopped at Basugaon railway station and resumed its onward journey after 40 minutes. Train services in the area were disrupted, the sources said.

One person has been rounded up for questioning, the sources added.

The reason for the stone-pelting was not immediately known.
