The Commission also asked Deputy Commissioner Satwant Singh Johal to provide free medical assistance to the girl and both the mother and child is given full protection to their lives, member of the Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission Dalip Singh Pandhi said.

It also said that if administration was unable to bear medical assistance to the victim, the Commission itself was ready to bear the expenses, he said.

The girl belonging to Ramoonwala Kalan village here was allegedly raped by six village youth.

Police had registered a case against the accused -- Shivinder Singh, Hardeep Singh, Jasbir Singh, Gurmail Singh, Jagsir Singh, Kamaldeep Singh and Raman Kumar -- on the basis of the information received from the villagers as no one from the girl's family lodged a complaint.

The girl and her family members had gone missing after registration of case against the youth but returned after she gave birth to a child, Pandhi said.
