However, French President Jacques Chirac says that the report of Osama bin Laden's death was not yet confirmed.
French President Jacques Chirac said on Saturday that a newspaper report that Osama bin Laden died this month of typhoid was "in no way confirmed."
He added that he was "surprised" that the French newspaper l'Est Republicain had published the report, which it said was based on a French secret service note relying on Saudi intelligence.
