'Retired officers involved in Malegaon blasts'

Mumbai police today alleged the two retired and arrested army officers were "a part of the larger conspiracy" and played a "major role" in the Malegaon blast.

Mumbai police on Wednesday alleged the two retired and arrested army officers were "a part of the larger conspiracy" and played a "major role" in the Malegaon blast.

The two retired officers arrested yesterday Sameer Kulkarni (34) and Ramesh Upadhyay (57) have been remanded to police custody till November 10 by a Nashik court, Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS), Sukhvinder Singh told reporters here today.

They have been booked for attempt to murder under Indian Explosives Act, he said.
