The decision on the merger was taken during a meeting between Malik and Khan at latter' residence in Pakistan on Friday, a spokesman of the Malik-led faction said.

"The documents for merger were formally signed after several meetings between the two leaders," he said.

Khan, one of the founding members of JKLF, had parted ways with Malik, known as the one of the pioneers of armed struggle in Kashmir, after the latter decided to renounce violence in 1994.
