The blast also wounded two others in the bus, which was passing through a mixed Sunni-Shiite part of the city.

A body was also found bearing marks of torture near a Sunni mosque in Saidiyah neighbourhood in the southern part of the city.

Late on Friday, six other bodies were found in Latifiya, just south of Baghdad and in the notorious 'triangle of death' region.

The men were in their 30s, their hands were bound and they all showed signs of torture.

Bound corpses shot in the head or showing signs of torture are turning up on a daily basis in Baghdad and are believed to be the results of tit-for-tat killings between Sunnis and Shiites in an environment of increased sectarian strife.
