The armed robbers escaped with cash and jewellery worth lakhs and some antique watches from the house, police said.

The incident happened at the house of Atul Narula, an exporter, at around 1.30 am. Seven men, masked and armed with knives, country-made pistols and rods, entered the first-floor residence by climbing the rear balcony, police said.

Police said the men beat the exporter’s mother and his grandmother when they tried to resist the robbery attempt. Several antique watches, cash worth over Rs 50,000 and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees were taken by them.

All the seven were in the age group of 20-22 years. They reportedly stayed inside the house for over 30 minutes.

Narula runs an export house in Noida’s Special Economic Zone. He had returned home late after attending a marriage.

His mother, Promila Narula and grandmother Phool Kumari, were at home.
