The two-day fest formally took off with the start of the elimination rounds. The students selected after the elimination rounds will compete for the final rounds of the competition scheduled to be held on Sunday, informed president of MNNIT Student Activity Centre (SAC) Prof Rakesh Narain.

While citing the example of Japan, which recently announced to develop the robo machines equipped with artificial intelligence making them capable of performing the work on the basis of their own intelligence, he further said that the aim of the event is to push up the innovative and creative ideas among the budding engineers for the development of next generation machines.

The competition is divided under various sub events including manual robotics, autonomous, Informals, open event, Robo kids and Lego Kits. The students will present models like path finder, crane and loaders which will have virtues of detecting obstacles, choosing right path and lifting the weights.

Each team can have a maximum of three members and has to develop Robo machines on the Requisite terms and conditions. The machines should qualify and perform over the given track and condition, said Thiyagu, a student co-ordinator of the fest.

A panel of judges comprising of senior faculty members will decide the fate of future machines. The preparation for the fest has been completed with laying of track and defining of modules, said student co-ordinator J Raja Shekhar Reddy.

The director of training and placement wing of MNNIT Prof Satish Chandra will distribute the prizes to the winners on April 16.
