Rocket on wheels!

A bike as good as a car? Or a car as bad as a bike? Whichever way you look at it, the Ecomobile is an exotic automobile.

The most frequently quoted reason why wannabe bikers stay away from bikes is the limited weather protection they have to offer. Bikes are open – that means you feel the sun, the wind and get wet when it rains. Bikes are also on two wheels – meaning you fall down when the machine is in a bad mood. Also bikes have little crash protection.

Essentially, people want a car that handles like a bike or a bike that has the weather protection of a car. Perhaps in the Ecomobile, we have the solution. This contraption is a covered motorcycle, which will stop, and park with the aid of two auxiliary wheels on the sides, very like the small wheels on children’s cycles to prevent them from falling. On the move, these wheels retract and the Ecomobile behaves like a bike.

The outer body is a composite-monocoque made from Kevlar and glass-weave bonded by Araldite epoxy resin, reinforced by roll – and crash-protection-bars, and steering head in argon-arc-welded aircraft-grade steel. The doors are gull-wing type with sunroof opening. There is a baggage compartment in the rear.
The front suspension is through telescopic fork and a BMW type monolever rear suspension. The engine borrowed from BMW-K-series bikes is a four-cylinder, 1171 cc, liquid cooled unit.

The gearbox has four forward speeds and an electrically unlockable reverse mated to a shaft drive. The wheels are of die-cast aluminium with the front equipped with twin brake discs with four-piston hydraulic callipers and the rear with a single disc brake. Rider comfort is top notch. Ecomobile comes with leather seats with automatic safety belts.

The Ecomobile comes in various specifications and if you think that the bike (?) looks docile, think again, because the Ecomibile Super Turbo can go up to 315 kph and do the 0-100 dash in 4.9 secs.
