In an attempt to provide more 'teeth' to the Railway Protection Force (RPF), the Railway authorities have imported six pups including two especially for Allahabad, and are raising them for the elite dog squad of the RPF. The six pups including two Labrador breed for Allahabad division and two each for Jhansi and Agra divisions of the NCR are expected to increase the security scenario to a considerable extent, said Senior Divisional Security Commissioner RPF, Sunil Kumar Singh.
A purchase committee headed by Senior Security Commissioner of Jhansi division was constituted by Chief Security Commissioner (CSC) and the pups were bought from an International agency in Hyderabad, said Singh.
"They will be given training at Dog Breeding-cum-Training Centre, Dayabasti in Delhi. After getting training they will be pressed into the field", said Singh.
Presently, there was only one sniffer dog in the squad of Allahabad division.
Now, with the additional strength in the dog squad, the RPF will certainly function effectively, claimed Singh.
