Rs 56 cr for traffic department

Budget 2008-09 has brought Rs 1581.90 crore (as against last year’s Rs 1424.57 crore) for Delhi Police, reports Nivedita Khandekar.

Budget 2008-09 has brought Rs 1581.90 crore (as against last year’s Rs 1424.57 crore) for Delhi Police. Of this, Rs 56 crore has been earmarked for the traffic department.

“We have got what we wanted and we will try to utilise it as best as possible,” police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said.

A provision of Rs 56 crore (Rs 55 crore under non-plan and Rs.1 crore under plan) has been made on capital account for expenditure for better traffic management, including installation of traffic signals etc, in the territory of Delhi. Last year, the provision under capital account was Rs 43.10 crore.
