Rs 6 lakh looted from petrol pump

UNIDENTIFIED motorcycle-borne miscreants looted more than Rs 6 lakh from a petrol refilling station in Sarraiya village under Cholapur police station in Varanasi on Saturday evening. According to information, four unidentified miscreants reached Aditya Filling Station in Sarraiya village under Cholapur development block on two motorcycles at around 8.30 pm. last evening and asked the employees of petrol pump to refill their bikes.

UNIDENTIFIED motorcycle-borne miscreants looted more than Rs 6 lakh from a petrol refilling station in Sarraiya village under Cholapur police station in Varanasi on Saturday evening.

According to information, four unidentified miscreants reached Aditya Filling Station in Sarraiya village under Cholapur development block on two motorcycles at around 8.30 pm. last evening and asked the employees of petrol pump to refill their bikes.

As soon as the employees refilled the bikes of the miscreants, one among them whipped out a pistol while two others barged into the cash cabin of the petrol pump. The miscreants threatened manager Satya Narayan Rai and other employees Anil Rai, Ashok Kumar, Narendra and Ramesh etc. and looted around Rs 6.37 lakh .

When the employees tried to challenge them, the robbers brandished fire arms and fired shots in the air. Eyewitnesses said that the robbers fled towards Phoolpur. Immediately after the incident, the employees informed the local police who launched a massive vehicle checking drive but to no avail.

Meanwhile, station officer of Cholapur police station Mahendra Yadav was suspended in view of the loot here on Sunday. An FIR against four unidentified miscreants has been lodged with the Cholapur police in this connection.
Kidnapping rumour sends cops in tizzy

THE RUMOUR of kidnapping of a man spread in the city on Sunday, leaving the police in a tizzy. However, it was later confirmed that police in civil dress had picked up a man for questioning in a particular case.

Police received frantic calls from people of Maroli colony under Maduadeeh police station that a school-boy was picked up near Saint John’s school. As the picture remained hazy for more than two hours, the police also received calls that a man was picked up in the area. The rumours had journalists rushing from one place to another for confirmation.

However, police after verification came to know that their own men in civil dress had picked up Bimal Gupta from Maroli colony which had caused panic in the area.

“ No body was kidnapped and the fact is that our men picked up Bimal Gupta for questioning which is going on”, Vipin K Rai, incharge police station Maduadeesh police station told Hindustan Times , confirming that this man’s detention had spread rumours of kidnapping of a boy, which was not true.

However, he did not elaborate as to why the man was picked up.
