Ruckus outside principal's residence

TR Girls College students on Friday created a ruckus outside the principal's residence and tried to break open the main gate in protest against Wednesday's incident in which a student was publicly punished for her involvement in a theft case.

The college management too recommended the principal's suspension in the wake of the incident.

To recall, a girl student was caught with the stolen purse of another student on Wednesday in the college. To penalise the girl, principal Dr Majnu Saraswat paraded the girl in the college with 'I am a thief' written on her back.

As the news spread in the city, students of other colleges assembled at TR College on Thursday, demanding action against the principal.

Sources said, the girl's marriage was cancelled following the incident.
