Tendulkar, racing against time to be fit for the third Test against Australia following an elbow injury, had his first practice session this morning in Mumbai and was said to be progressing well.

Apart from King and Leipus, coach John Wright will also be present when Tendulkar's fitness is assessed by the experts, according to Cricket Board sources.

The support staff left for Mumbai this evening.

The star batsman missed the first two Tests of the ongoing series and his playing in the third match, beginning in Nagpur on October 26, would depend on passing a fitness test two days before the start of the tie.

Tendulkar was on Monday named in the 15-member squad for the third Test and Cricket Board Secretary SK Nair said the player was likely to make it to the side for the Nagpur match as he was well on the road to recovery.

Meanwhile, Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, along with his wife and daughter, left for Kolkata in the afternoon.

Most of the other members of the Indian team had left for their homes last night itself, the sources said.

The Australians also left for Mumbai from where they are expected to disperse before reassembling in Nagpur on October 23.

Skipper Adam Gilchrist, alongwith coach John Buchannan, would be leaving for Singapore early on Wednesday while other team members are likely to spend the short break in beach resorts in Goa.
