BJP's victory in the assembly elections of three states was a befitting reply to the Congress, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray said on Thursday and asserted that this success would repeat in the next Lok Sabha polls.

"The BJP victory in three states ruled by the Congress is the indication of a big win for the saffron alliance in the future," Thackeray said in a statement in Mumbai.

"This was a befitting reply to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi," Thackeray added.

He said that the BJP could have captured the Delhi state along with Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh if a strong candidate for the chief minister's post had been pitted against the Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit.

" The power greedy politicians from the ruling alliance in Maharashtra would continue to take advantage of being in the government for a few more months", the Sena chief said and expressed hope that saffron alliance would capture power in the next elections.

Thackeray said that the victory of the saffron alliance in the state council elections has indicated its popularity in the state.

Ruling out differences between Shiv Sena and BJP, he said those trying to bring about a rift in the saffron alliance would never achieve success.
