Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary on Thursday said that review of law and order situation by the chief minister, like the one undertaken yesterday, and punishing officials would not improve law and order, till BSP MLAs and ministers continue to get patronage for their wrong deeds.

The SP spokesman said that these review meetings are an escape route worked out by Mayawati to shrug-off her constitutional responsibilities and she has herself accepted that the situation is really bad .

"The political identity earned by Chief Minister in these past two years had been that of a person misusing power," Chaudhary said adding that people have taken note of the government's constant attempts to divert attention, even trying to give a communal colour to incidents like the one, which took place in Azamgarh on Wednesday.
