Sankararaman murder case adjourned to October 28
The adjournment was sought on the ground that the SC was hearing a petition filed by the Seer for transferring the case.
A sessions court on Friday adjourned to October 28 hearing of the Sankararaman murder case in which Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi are the main accused.
The adjournment was sought on the ground that the Supreme Court was hearing a petition filed by the Seer for transferring the case to a court outside Tamil Nadu.
The Shankaracharya's counsel KS Dinakaran filed petitions in the trial court to dispense with personal appearance of both the seers, after which Sessions Judge GM Akbar Ali adjourned the proceedings.
Besides the two seers, there are 22 others accused in the case, including Mutt Manager Sundaresa Iyer and Raghu, younger brother of Vijayendra.
The case relates to the murder of temple official Sankararaman on September 3 last year.
