Sarpanch fires at two over a drain dispute

Two people were allegedly shot at by a village head over a dispute of drain site during the panchayat meeting in Kakrana here, police said today.

The panchayat members Dheeraz (28)and Praveen (30) were shot at on Saturday by the Sarpanch Yashpal
when they opposed the proposal of constructing a drain at the existing site and demanded a change in its location, they said.

The Sarpanch did not favour the change which resulted in a dispute following which he along with his supporters opened fire at the duo injuring them, police said.

The injured were rushed to a hospital where their condition is said to be critical, they said.

A case has been registered against the Sarpanch and his supporters who are at large after the incident, police said, adding investigation into the matter is on.
