AS THE cold wave has gripped Allahabad the district magistrate has ordered principals of all primary schools and colleges to hold the classes only after 9 a.m. The decision has been taken to provide relief to schoolchildren in the severe cold weather conditions. The order will remain effective till January 24.

Addressing the meeting at his camp office, district magistrate Amrit Abhijat said the order would be effective on all Hindi and English medium schools, including convent ones, in the city as well as rural areas. He said: "If any child falls sick due to non-compliance of the order the principal and management of that school will be held responsible."
Reviewing the bonfire facility in public places, he ordered the municipal commissioner to also provide bonfire facility at Baluaghat and Harshwardhan crossings. He asked the Rotary and Lions Club members to set up rain baseras at three places and provide tea and snack facilities to the visitors.
Meanwhile, Rotary Club Midtown has decided to set up a rain baseras near Rambagh railway station, Junction station (city side) and Prayag station. The Lions Club has decided to set up a rain basera near Hanuman Temple in Civil Lines area. Different organisations and clubs have also decided to provide bonfire facility near district court, Zero Road bus stand, Mundera Transport Nagar, Katghar Giri Temple, Amrit Bakery Meerapur, Luxmi Cinema Hall Katra and George Town post office.
Municipal commissioner Gaya Prasad said bonfire facility would be provided by the Nagar Nigam at 29 important places in the city.
